Title of dataset2010, GEMS, Zone 3 Dogger Bank Tranche A and Met Masts, Acoustic and Geophysical Survey
Narrative summary of datasetGEMS Survey Ltd. (GEMS) were contracted by Forewind Limited to undertake a bathymetric and geophysical survey of the Tranche A development area and two met mast locations (which were later revised) within the Dogger Bank Zone, in addition to a cable reconnaissance from Tranche A to the Yorkshire coastline. This survey was carried out between 8 July 2010 and 26 December 2010. The primary objectives of the survey were to produce sufficiently high resolution bathymetric and geophysical data and interpretations to allow regional interpretation for planning and modelling purposes; for met mast design to commence and to provide high quality data to inform further benthic and environmental surveys. GEMS supplied interpreted datasets compatible with ESRI ArcGIS software. The GIS data included bathymetry, sidescan sonar mosaics, seabed features, sediments and obstructions.
Summary of processing methodologyA series of reports accompanies the datasets. These are listed below: Vol 1 - Operations Report MV Aquarius Vol 2 - Operations Report MV Kommandor Jack Vol 3 - Processing and Interpretation Report Vol 4 - Geophysical Results Report Vol 5 - Original Met Mast W Report Vol 6 - Original Met Mast X Report Vol 7 - Alternate Met Mast W Report Vol 8 - Alternate Met Mast X Report Vol 9 - Cable Route Reconnaissance KP Descriptions Of particular interest here is Volume 4.
Supporting documentationThe primary objectives of the survey were to produce sufficiently high resolution bathymetric and geophysical data and interpretations to allow regional interpretation for planning and modelling purposes; for met mast design to commence and to provide high quality data to inform further benthic and environmental surveys. This survey was reported on in 9 volumes which covered Tranche A, the potential met mast sites and the Creyke Beck reconnaissance cable route survey.
